Change of Date for the 2012 Rally

Regretfully due to a clash of bookings at MIRA, the 2012 National Road Rally has had to move a week later to 30th June & 1st July.

As MIRA is used for the Special Test and also a Limited Opening Control, the venue plays an important part of the event.

The Organising Committee apologise to all those who have pencilled the date in their diaries, but having looked at other options, the best was to alter the date of the event.

Preparations for the 2012 event are well under way and Regulations will be available soon.

Important Information About Final Controls

Please note that you will only be able to finish your Rally at one of the 6 Controls designated Final Controls (Chipping Sodbury, Whitchurch, Warrington, Leeds, Kegworth and the Ace Cafe) from 7.00am on Sunday morning.

This is to comply with Motor Vehicle Regulations.

(This does not apply to Daytime Rally participants)

Whitchurch Control

The Organisers are planning to put up a marquee for riders to use as a rest area.

Riders planning to use this facility should bring a sleeping bag.

Barnsley Control - No 8

Would riders including this Control in their route note that the garage is now a Texaco and not a BP garage.

CORRECTION TO MATRIX

Please note that due to a printing error, there is a mistake on the Matrix in that there are two number 13's.

The one in the South West, linking Control nos 5 and 19 should be no 14 - Chippenham.

I can also confirm that there is one 20 mile link between Controls 53 & 3 in the South East.

Please accept our apologies for this error.

Heart FM DJ Dave Clarke joins the Rally

Heart FM DJ Dave Clarke has succumbed to the lure of the Rally!

Change to One of the Opening Controls

Please could you note that the Control that was to be sited in the Wincanton area, mentioned below, has now been relocated to Frome.

Start Your Rally at One of these Opening Controls.

In addition to around 50 Controls available throughout the event, arrangements have been made for a number of 'Start Controls' to be open for the first 2 hours of the Rally at the following locations:-

Wincanton, Staines, Ripon, MIRA and Romsey.

This will mean that many riders will be able to start their Rally nearer to home.

Along with the 6 Final Controls at Whitchurch, Chipping Sodbury, Warrington, Leeds, Kegworth & North London the Organising Committee are working hard to make the Rally itself as enjoyable as possible for all riders and the journey to and from the event shorter and safer.

FINAL CONTROLS

The Organising Committee are pleased to announce the locations of the 6 Final Controls:-

Chipping Sodbury, Whitchurch, Warrington, Leeds, Kegworth and the Ace Cafe North London.

This will enable riders to finish at a Final Control nearer to their home and shorten their driving time after the Rally.
