Summary of the Rally

The following extracts from the Supplementary Regulations will provide sufficient information to enable you to send in your entry.

The Auto-cycle Union in association with the British Motorcyclists Federation and Mencap organise the Interphone National Road Rally, which is a ‘navigational scatter rally’ held under the National Sporting Code of the ACU and Regulation 3(5) of the Motor Vehicles (Rallies and Trials) Regulations 1969, under Permit Number ACU 23418. 

The full Supplementary Regulations can be viewed or down loaded from the web site www.nationalroadrally.co.uk. Riders who enter by post will be sent the full Supplementary Regulations by post.

Event Descriptions and Awards are as follows: -

1. The National Daytime Rally on Saturday 4th.July. (10 hours)

  1. Ideal for beginners and those who don’t wish to ride overnight
  2. Start 2.00pm – ride 200 miles min. to 275 miles max.  Select your own route and Controls (you must reach your chosen finishing control by midnight.))
  3. Ride 275 miles – visit the maximum Controls possible for a Daytime Silver award
  4. Start and Finish close to home
  5. On completion, Control cards must be posted by 13th. July to the Entry Secretary, ACU House, ACU Ltd., Wood St., Rugby, CV21 2YX
  6. Awards, Daytime Silver or Bronze will be posted to successful entrants.

 2. The National Rally on Saturday 4th. /Sunday 5th.July. (20 hours)

  1. Ideal for those who wish to ride overnight, with the Bronze award ideal for beginners, Silver award for the experienced, Gold award for the more experienced and Special Gold award for the very experienced riders.
  2. Riders who want a leisurely ride can start between 2.00pm & 10.00pm – 200 miles brings a Finishers award, 300 miles a Bronze award
  3. Start between 2.00pm and 6.00pm – ride 400 miles for a Silver award
  4. Start 2.00pm – ride 500 miles or 540 miles for the Gold or Special Gold award
  5. Visit your chosen Controls, but for a Special Gold visit the maximum possible
  6. Finish at the Final Control at Bletchley Park before 10.00am Sunday
  7. Control cards to be given to officials at the Final Control

3. The National Rally (Platinum Category) Sat.4th. /Sun.5th. July (Special Tests plus 20 hours)

  1. For extremely experienced riders
  2. Saturday morning 4th.July – take part in special tests at MIRA (Motor Industry Research Association) Proving Ground, Hinckley, CV10 0TU
  3. Start 2.00pm Saturday from a nearby Control – ride 540 miles – visit maximum of Controls possible.
  4. Finish at the Final Control at Bletchley Park before 10.00am Sunday.
  5. Control cards to be given to officials at the Final Control.
  6. Achieve a Platinum award and the chance to win one of the Major awards.

4. The National Sunrise Rally on Sunday 5th.July. (6 hours)

  1. Ideal for beginners, and those who don’t wish to ride overnight, but can do early starts, and join in the atmosphere at the Final Control
  2. Start at 4.00am – ride 120 miles min. to 180 miles max. – Finish at the Final Control at Bletchley Park before 10.00am Sunday.
  3. Visit your chosen Controls and achieve a Bronze award
  4. Ride 180 miles – visit the maximum Controls possible for a Sunrise Silver award
  5. Control cards to be given to officials at the Final Control
